FORMAL LETTER

23, Sant Joan dels Erms st.
Castelló d'Empúries

14/4/2011

Mr. John Ritch
World Nuclear Organization director general

Dear Mr. John Ritch,

I am a seventeen-old-year-girl who studies at IES Castelló d'Empúries, and while we were debating what happened in Japan some weeks ago, we had the chance to write a letter to you. So, I am going to use this opportunity to express my views about nuclear power.

First of all, I am not like a Greenpeace member, so I am not a huge defender of alternatives energies. Obviously I agree nuclear power would produce a big catastrophy like what happened in Japan.

On the one hand, we are all guilty because we made this consumer system, but on the other hand we might be victims of who is more powerful than us. We did not decide what kind of energy we wanted to use, but we also do not care either.

Maybe we must be a little bit conscious about how the Earth is suffering because of our lifestyle, and even if governments have to invest more, we will gain in the future.

I am sure this is not your opinion, but we might think as a group, not as an individual -as we are doing... since... who knows?-. We should shut down nuclear power stations to prevent future catastrophies.

Anyway, it's our fault the disasters we will produce to nature.

I am looking forward to hearing from you and your new nuclear plans.

Yours sincerely,

Claudia Escobar
